Janet Rhoton, Ph.D.

As a Partner at Executive Leadership Partners (ELP), Janet works at the most senior levels of leadership as an advisor to clients on talent and organizational strategies, as well as leadership effectiveness. She offers a deep understanding of how the domains of change management, organizational culture, leadership development, employee engagement, talent management, team dynamics, and organizational, team and individual performance powerfully intersect. She is experienced with senior level decision-makers, business leaders, and strategic partners and has been a leader in, and advisor to, Fortune 100 corporations.

Prior to consulting, Janet was the Vice President of Talent and Change Management at Duke Energy. She advanced numerous organizational transformation initiatives in support of the company’s Clean Energy Transition. Janet facilitated organizational design initiatives to position leaders to deliver on ambitious goals. She helped to successfully orchestrate numerous C-suite succession transitions and helped to position and ready countless members of the leadership pipeline for the future. Janet introduced a comprehensive leadership development strategy to meet the unique needs of the various levels of leadership in the organization, including intensive executive assessment and long- term development coaching to fully realize the leadership potential in middle and senior leaders.

Previously, Janet spent 17 years at Bank of America where she held a wide variety of Human Resources Business Partner and Leadership Development positions at both the corporate and business unit level—including her role leading Enterprise Talent Management and Leadership Development for one of the world’s largest financial services organizations. Janet began her career in consulting, where she specialized in selection and developmental assessments, 360- degree feedback, competency model development, employee opinion surveys, job design, and organizational effectiveness consulting. Her clients spanned industries such as insurance, technology, fast food, energy, food and beverage, and federal and local government.

Janet graduated with highest distinction from the Shreyers Honors College at Penn State University with a B.S. in Psychology. She obtained an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Colorado State University. Her degrees are supplemented by Six Sigma Green Belt and Black Belt credentials.
